RBA Registrars Mission Statement — Responsible Business Assurance Registrars Ltd
About RBA Registrars
RBA Registrars is the trading name of Responsible Business Assurance Registrars Ltd, an independent certification body headquartered at 3 Seville Court, Seville Road, Portishead, Bristol BS20 7BD, United Kingdom. We provide third-party conformity assessment services to organisations across all industry sectors, from small businesses to large multinationals.
Our services encompass management system certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001, ISO 13485, ISO 28000), product certification (ISO/IEC 17065, CE Marking, UKCA), inspection (ISO/IEC 17020 — accreditation in progress), GHG verification and validation (ISO 14064, ISO 14065), and personal certification for individual auditors and practitioners.
RBA Registrars operates as an Exemplar Global Approved Training Organisation (ATO), delivering recognised Lead Auditor, Internal Auditor and Awareness training programmes — meaning we support clients not just at the point of certification, but throughout their journey to build internal competence.
Our certification operations are designed and conducted in full alignment with ISO/IEC 17021-1 — the international requirements for management system certification bodies — ensuring impartiality, consistency and integrity in every audit we conduct and every certificate we issue.
We are actively pursuing accreditation under ISO/IEC 17065 (product certification) and ISO/IEC 17020 (inspection bodies), building the operational infrastructure and auditor competence needed to achieve formal accreditation status and deliver internationally recognised certificates in these domains.
Built on Experience,
Driven by Standards.
RBA Registrars's story is one of progressive growth — established in the United Kingdom as a professionally governed, independently operated certification body, and expanded progressively into Bangladesh, Australia, Asia and beyond. Built on standards, driven by integrity.
Responsible Business Assurance Registrars Ltd was incorporated in England and Wales (Company No. 12867613), with its registered office at Portishead, Bristol. The United Kingdom was chosen as the founding jurisdiction deliberately — to benefit from the rigour of UK company law, the credibility of the UK conformity assessment landscape, and proximity to the European regulatory and standards community. From the outset, the organisation was structured for international operation under a single, UK-governed quality framework.
The first international market entered was Bangladesh — one of the world's most demanding manufacturing environments, with garments, textiles, food processing and industrial sectors requiring credible ISO third-party assurance to access global supply chains. RBA Registrars established an in-country auditor network and began delivering certification services to Bangladeshi organisations, building a strong foundation of sector competence in high-volume, export-oriented manufacturing.
A pivotal step in RBA Registrars's international credibility: approval as an Exemplar Global Approved Training Organisation (ATO). Exemplar Global is the world's foremost certification body for management system auditors and practitioners. ATO approval authorised RBA Registrars to deliver formally recognised Lead Auditor, Internal Auditor and Awareness qualification programmes — adding a training and competence development dimension to the offer, and giving clients a single, trusted partner from initial training through to full certification.
Leveraging the credibility of Exemplar Global approval alongside a growing network of qualified auditors, RBA Registrars extended its reach to Australia and across a number of Asian markets — including South-East Asian manufacturing, food processing and supply chain organisations seeking internationally recognised ISO certification. This expansion marked the transition from a UK-anchored body with Bangladesh operations to a genuinely multi-regional certification organisation, with auditor deployment across multiple time zones and regulatory environments.
Scheme expansion delivered a comprehensive multi-standard portfolio spanning the full range of ISO management system certifications — ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001, ISO 13485 and ISO 28000 — alongside GHG verification and validation under ISO 14064 and ISO 14065, product certification under ISO/IEC 17065, personal certification under ISO/IEC 17024, and inspection services aligned to ISO/IEC 17020. Each scheme is operated with its own competence framework, auditor qualification requirements and certification pathway.
RBA Registrars is actively progressing applications for formal accreditation across several internationally recognised accreditation programmes. Internal management systems, documented procedures, impartiality committee governance and auditor competence frameworks have all been developed in preparation for accreditation assessment. Accreditation will bring formal third-party recognition of what we already deliver in practice — and open the door to certificates recognised across the world, extending our reach into new markets across the USA, Middle East, Africa and beyond.
Our Core Values
Every certification decision is made independently of commercial pressure, relationships or conflicts of interest. Our impartiality framework, committee oversight and conflict-of-interest policies protect the integrity of every certificate we issue. Impartiality is not a policy for us — it is the foundation on which certification credibility is built.
Our auditors are assessed for genuine sector competence before assignment. We do not send generalists to conduct specialist audits. Every audit is conducted with the depth of technical understanding required to add real value — not simply tick boxes. Our ongoing auditor competence assessment and witness audit programme maintains the quality of our technical outputs.
World-class certification should not be the exclusive domain of large organisations. RBA Registrars is committed to making credible, professionally conducted ISO certification accessible to SMEs, growing businesses and organisations in developing markets — with transparent pricing, clear processes and genuine support throughout the certification journey.
We say what we do, and we do what we say. Our certification agreements, public documents, complaint and appeals processes, and confidentiality obligations are written to be clear, honest and enforceable. When things go wrong, we have fair processes to address them. Integrity means being accountable — not just when it is convenient.
We apply the same philosophy of continual improvement to our own operations that we assess in our clients' management systems. We invest in auditor development, update our processes to reflect changes in Global-ACI and EA requirements, and actively seek feedback from clients and auditors to improve the quality of every interaction.
As a certification body, RBA Registrars is committed to full public transparency — publishing our impartiality policy, complaints and appeals process, confidentiality obligations, terms and conditions, and certificate verification service. Clients, applicants, auditors and any interested party have the right to understand how we operate and to challenge our decisions.
What We Certify
RBA Registrars operates across five service lines — each with its own technical framework, auditor competence requirements and certification pathway. All service lines are operated in alignment with the relevant ISO/IEC certification body standards.
Third-party certification of management systems against ISO requirements — the most widely recognised form of ISO certification, covering quality, environmental, safety, information security, food safety, energy and more.
Independent certification of products, processes and services against technical standards and regulatory requirements — including CE Marking, UKCA marking, Type I eco-labelling and label certification under ISO/IEC 17065.
Third-party verification of GHG inventories, emissions reports and environmental claims — conducted by qualified GHG verifiers in accordance with ISO 14064-1/2/3, ISO 14065 and ISO 14021.
Certification of individual auditors and practitioners against ISO/IEC 17024 aligned competence frameworks — issuing Lead Auditor and Auditor personal certificates across ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 27001, 22000 and 50001.
Exemplar Global ATO-approved training programmes — from half-day awareness courses through to 5-day Lead Auditor certification programmes and specialist transition training for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Independent third-party inspection services conducted in accordance with ISO/IEC 17020 — providing objective assessment of products, installations, structures, processes and services against defined requirements, specifications or regulations. RBA Registrars is actively pursuing formal accreditation under ISO/IEC 17020.
